Overview
In the era of digital transformation, companies often face the challenge of transitioning their technological infrastructure to more efficient platforms. National Storage Affiliates (NSA) faced a significant challenge in migrating its file system from Datto to SharePoint. This transition required that users be proficient in navigating the new platform. To address this, NSA initiated a series of training sessions provided by Greystone Technology, a New Charter Technologies company, aimed at familiarizing users with SharePoint's interface and functionalities. This proactive step enabled team members to benefit from the range of collaboration and content management capabilities the platform provides.
Challenge
The primary challenge NSA encountered was the need to seamlessly transition its file management system from Datto to SharePoint while ensuring minimal disruption to daily operations. The existing user base was accustomed to the Datto platform, posing a potential barrier to adoption and productivity. Without proper training and support, there was a risk of user resistance and decreased efficiency post-migration.
Results
The training sessions led to significant improvements in user proficiency and confidence in using SharePoint. Employees were able to navigate the new file system with minimal roadblocks, locate migrated files efficiently, and leverage SharePoint's collaborative features to streamline workflows.
As a result, NSA successfully migrated its file system to SharePoint without major disruptions to operations. Although some challenges, such as syncing issues, persisted post-migration, overall functionality and user satisfaction with the platform improved over time.
